Adventure, in the Writing section of the Project Depot, is a great way for your young learners to practice their writing skills.

All Sprout English’s writing activities include vocabulary words and phrases that are related to the writing topic. Your students will not only learn new words, but will also be more likely to remember them because they’ll use them in context in their writing. The phrases are designed to get students’ imagination going. Students must work them into their stories.

You could do this writing task during class. Circulate and start your corrections while students are working. This will minimize the time it takes for you to correct their writing later, and students will benefit by hearing your explanations as you go around and correct. It also gives them more of a chance to ask about a correction if they don’t understand it.

Alternatively, you could assign the writing as homework. That way, students can take all the time they need to come up with a good story.

Once students have written their stories, you could put them into small groups and have them read their stories out loud to their classmates for listening practice. Or you could have students exchange stories with a partner and read them silently for reading practice. Get students to talk about what they liked about each other’s stories, and about the differences between them. For higher-level learners, get them to try peer correction on each other’s stories.
