Sprout’s Phonics Cafe section offers many lessons to help improve low-level English learners’ printing, writing, spelling, and pronunciation. This section starts with the alphabet and works up to letter combinations and words that are difficult to pronounce and spell. This week’s Spotlight lesson is on the letters M to R. Your students will love the colorful illustrations and engaging activities!
This 20-page phonics lesson can be broken up and done over several days so that your learners get as much practice as they need. It starts off with simple printing exercises for the uppercase and lowercase letters M through R. The colorful images also give learners a chance to practice their pronunciation. These exercises are followed by a variety of fun activities, such as matching exercises and mazes, so that your students will get ample practice recognizing, saying, and writing these letters without getting bored! There is even a review and a test of the letters A through R, which you can do with your students if you’ve also done the A-F and G-L lessons.
Later this week on our blog, you will find two posts related to our Spotlight lesson. On Tuesday, July 9, Tanya will blog about L and R pronunciation, because the /r/ pronunciation can be challenging for almost all learners of English. On Thursday, July 11, Tara will blog about 10 summer printing practice ideas. Both posts will include free practice worksheets, so stay tuned to our blog!
