Simple Past

What did you do yesterday? The simple past is a fundamental building block of English grammar that young learners should learn early on. Our revamped Simple Past lesson makes it easy and fun to teach this common verb tense!

This engaging 12-page lesson starts off with a clear, easy-to-follow grammar explanation and picture dictionary, followed by a variety of activities such as a matching exercise, sentence writing, Yes/No questions, a picture story, and a class survey. We chose a common theme, daily routines, to give this lesson a useful real-life context.

Learners can work alone or with a partner for almost all of the exercises in this lesson, and there is also a group activity. You can choose whether to do the entire lesson in one day or to break it up over a few days and/or assign some of it for homework.
