With the drawing activities in our Project Depot, your young learners will be having so much fun that they won’t even realize they’re developing their listening and/or reading skills! This week, we’re featuring our House Listen and Draw/Read and Draw activity.
You can choose to present this lesson as a Listen and Draw or Read and Draw activity. One idea is to present House as a Listen and Draw exercise this week, and try another drawing lesson (such Dog or Fire Truck) as a Read and Draw exercise the following week. Students can do the Read and Draw exercise on their own in class or for homework. For the Listen and Draw exercise, you could read out the instructions yourself or you could have a student volunteer to do it. Another idea is to pair students up and have one student read the instructions out loud for pronunciation and speaking practice while their partner draws what they hear. Right after that, or the next day, they can switch roles, with the other student reading out the instructions from a new Listen and Draw activity—choose from 15 popular themes.
For further vocabulary development, try our new My House lesson in our Word Bank. We also have a lesson on The Kitchen coming in April, with other rooms of the house soon to follow!
Sprout English has 40 fun drawing, writing, and photography activities on popular topics in the Project Depot. Try them all!
