Grammar and phonics are combined in our Spotlight lesson this week. Our This Is / That Is lesson is a great review of many sounds and spelling in English, such as A to F, M to R, L & R, ‘th’ words, silent ‘e’ words, and three-letter words.
This seven-page phonics lesson contains practice with names, colors, and objects. Young learners must spell and write these words using a “this is / that is” grammar construction. To incorporate speaking and pronunciation into this lesson, have students repeat the phrases that you model, or pair students up and have them read out the sentences they’ve written.
